This is not required
if you have sub-domain with an ISP. Your new or existing site can simply
be uploaded to the site where your own domain will be hosted in future,
leaving your sub-domain where it is, or discontinuing it.
MCL offer free transfers (to our
servers) for clients hosting a site with us, otherwise the name serving
fee of £16.50 will apply if redirection of the domain name is required. If a
client registers a domain with us, and wishes to transfer the name out
to another provider without first hosting the site, the same fee will
apply.
Some
suppliers of domain names have locked customers into different agreements
and may not transfer easily. Please phone or e-mail us if you are having
difficulty: 01255 670 081
More detailed notes on the transfer
process are given below:

Transferring
to MCL
We will
require a confirming letter from you addressed to your existing provider requesting the transfer to us. We will forward or fax it as necessary
to complete the transfer. We will arrange everything else. It should
take about 24 hours depending on the existing provider.
Transferring
Away from MCL
We will
usually only require the new providers IPSTAG (this is something like:
PRIMENET) which you can obtain from them.
Send
or fax us a confirming letter on your company letterhead with a cheque
for £16 + vat and the transfer will normally be completed
in 24 hours. The new location will be available after the name servers
have been updated.
CLICK HERE to print out a transfer form, you can then post or fax it with your
letter of authorization.

The transfer
of these domains usually take longer than those for .co .uk for both transfer
in and away and is handled by Internic in the USA.
Depending on the registrar and any other parties involved the transfer
can take anything from 48 hours upwards and we have known them take
a month where certain details remain unavailable. The approvals are usually sent by email to the contact on the domain and need a response from this contact. Some may
require a signed letter in a set format, and on company letter heading,
by the owner/administrator of the name. This will be sent by fax (if,
for example the administration or other contact(s) cannot be verified
by e-mail).
The fastest method of transfer depends whether or not the registrar
details are changing. The existing ISP can complete the details of the
new provider on an on-line form which is sent off by e-mail, if the
registrar remains the same.
Otherwise the new provider must complete his own details with the new
registrar on an on-line form and forward them. The existing provider
will then be contacted to approve the new details. If this is accepted
the transfer will take place with final approval being notified.
Approval on letter heading will only be required if the registration
authority cannot obtain permission by other means.
Transferring
into MCL
Please Contact us so we can look at the information on your domain name and advise you of the best way to arrange the transfer.
Transferring
Away from MCL
We will
require the following details if the registrar remains the same or we
continue to nameserve/redirect for any reason:
1. Written authorization posted or faxed to us on letterheading giving
the additional information below and a cheque for £16 + vat.
2. Name of administration, technical and billing contracts, address
of each plus telephone, fax and e-mail address of each. This is important.
A form is available for completion.
3. Domain name primary and secondary servers. These will be names and
numbers. Your new provider will give you these.
This is the fastest transfer method, where we as current administrators
authorize the transfer. The domain name remains with the same registrar.
If the registrar is changing i.e. the organization that holds the details
of the domain name, then your new provider will organize this, they
will initiate the change, and we will give our approval once the details
are received. This method takes much longer to complete.
As a precaution you should send us a telephone number and contact name
for the new provider.
